I got some gift certificates to a well-known online retailer, and may invest in a better pre-amp for my upright, which has a bridge mounted pickup. Any recommendations? |

Might want to invest in a better pickup than a pre. I bought a K&K bridge pickup that has two piezo elements sandwiched together in one, and also a k&k preamp thinking I would need it. Turns out that the BassMax pickup has more than enough gain than is needed for any forseeable use, without the preamp. So now it just sits in the closet. I have the pickup installed with the piezo elements wedged in the left wing of the bridge. Awesome sound ! K&K makes killer preamps too if you just have to have one, but you will need to stock batteries to use it if you play a lot.
