<title>For Sale: GIBSON LES PAUL 5 STRING BASS - RARE - $1,100.00</title>
<author>eric@basshangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.basshangout.com/classifieds/detail.asp?cid=1958</link>
<description>This bass is Extremely Rare. I have never seen another like it. The closest I've seen was a 4 string. It was made in the early 90's. It includes: A beautiful higly flamed maple top, mahogony neck and body, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard, with mother of pearl trapezoid position markers and black hardware. The controls are 1 volume and 3 EQ knobs. It comes with Bartolini pickups. The pickups have a nice tone and are very versatile. The upper neck and around the back of the peghead had some finish checking, but was professionally repaired and is barely noticeable. There are few other dings, but are so slight that they can hardly be seen. Also comes with a great looking brown Gibson case with hot pink lining. This is a Great looking, Great sounding bass, you won't be disappointed.

Let me know if you have any questions.

<title>For Sale: 1936 King Moretone Upright 3/4 Bass - $3,500.00</title>
<author>eric@basshangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.basshangout.com/classifieds/detail.asp?cid=1377</link>
<description>Label reads: KING Made by the H.N.White Co. Cleveland, Ohio

This bass # 650 has an old professional neck repair with dowels and metal plate. Normal dings and scratches for 70 plus years of playing! Wooden end-pin.

In 1934 The H. N. White Company started making string instruments with the same attention to quality that was used to make brass instruments. The H. N. White Basses quickly gained a reputation for their superior tone but also for their unbelievable quality. The first stringed instruments appear in White Way News Number 7 (1934) and were for the King brand only. In 1936 (White Way News Number 9) The American Standard string bass first appears. All King and American Standard models were made in the same shop. The King string basses fronts were made from the finest straight grain spruce with very close grain quality, while the rest of the instrument was made of curly maple. Each bass was equipped with an improved geared key mechanism. The H. N. White Company claimed that each &quot;King string bass has a greater volume of tone, and carries the vibrations over a longer period of time, than any other string bass...&quot; Production of both the King and American Standard bass products was halted during the Second World War. Production slowly resumed for the King string bass in 1946, and the American Standard Bass by 1949. The post-war US military boasted some 2000 or so King basses in use because of their durability, etc. After 1965 the string division of the company was sold off to the Kay Bass Company.</description>

<description>This bass was purchased in 1998. It has a beautiful smooth sound with plenty of sustain and is great for arco or pizzicato playing.
Wilhelm Klier basses are crafted in Germany of European tonewoods. These basses are made of specially selected older wood, which contributes to their warmer, &#8220;older&#8221; sound. They are adjusted for optimal tone and playability and hand-varnished in the United States. These basses are recognized world-wide for their outstanding sound and beauty.
