<title>Lapsteel 1950's- &quot;Thank You Lord&quot; with organ bass</title>
<itunes:author>ukuleleph</itunes:author>
<author>ukuleleph</author>
<link>http://www.basshangout.com/myhangout/music.asp?ID=16218</link>
<itunes:summary>This was recorded in the 1950's by my Grandfather for his gospel radio show in rural Australia. He used to use A-C#-E-A-C#-E tuning on his lapsteel, but first recorded with a ukulele and an organ bass. He used two reel to reel tape recorders to do this. He would give a message, but record a song which was spliced in the middle of the &quot;sermon&quot;. He never tried to be country, hillbilly, or Hawaiin. He said that in those days, everything was &quot;hillbilly&quot;, and that he was reflecting the church music of the time. Remember that in Australia back then, we had never heard of old time, bluegrass, Lester, Earl, Bill, Hank, Roy etc. It was just &quot;music&quot;. Sorry the recording is a bit rough, but you will get a &quot;snapshot&quot; of the time in Australia. By the way, he said it was not called a &quot;lapsteel&quot; back then; just &quot;a guitar&quot;. This is pre-rock 'n' roll. He died in Feb 2009. I would appreciate your comments.</itunes:summary>
